Real stories

Change is possible.
Here's the proof.

Recovery is rarely a straight line. But when people are given stability, support and someone who believes in them, incredible things happen. These are real journeys from our community.

A resident supported by family and staff at his baptism.
From homelessness to hope

A new chapter, and the family he thought he'd lost

When he first arrived, he had experienced homelessness and long-term crack cocaine misuse, and had become estranged from his family. Contact with his parents had been lost.

Through regular support, encouragement and the stability of a safe place to live, he slowly began rebuilding his life. One of the most significant moments was his decision to be baptised — with our staff and his parents there beside him. Since then he has stayed in regular contact and visited them again, rebuilding trust and creating new memories.

"Before Tranquil Minds I had lost everything. I was homeless, using, and not in contact with my parents. Since being here I've changed my life. Having my parents at my baptism meant everything to me. I finally feel hopeful about my future again."

Steven's second chance

Steven arrived carrying nearly two decades of addiction. His life had become chaotic and his self-esteem was at rock bottom. In his first week, his place was at risk — but behind the chaos, staff could see a genuine desire to change. Rather than give up on him, we chose to work alongside him.

Through one-to-one support, honest conversations and access to our on-site gym, Steven rebuilt his confidence day by day. Today he has passed 100 days free from crack cocaine and is building a life he can be proud of.

Creating community, one meal at a time

Many of the people we support have spent years surviving rather than learning everyday skills. Our group cooking sessions give residents a budget and support to plan, shop for and prepare a meal together — then sit down and share it.

Not only does this provide a free, healthy meal, it creates conversation, laughter and a sense of community many residents have been missing for years.

  • Budgeting, meal planning and cooking confidence
  • Reduced isolation and stronger relationships
  • Routine, responsibility and belonging

Every story starts with a safe place to begin.

Help us give more people the stability and support to write their next chapter.
